7 Day Slim Down

I am starting the Tone It Up 7 Day Slim Down on Friday, June 24th.  I will be documenting my workouts, meals (I can't share everything though! **you can buy the diet plan at toneitup.com) and how I feel throughout the day.  I am SUPER excited to have other TIU team members doing this with me!!  So far there are 8 of us on Twitter who will be doing the slim down and supporting eachother through it!!  I want to look and feel my best before the 4th of July weekend.  My mom & step-dad are celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary and they are having a big family & friends get-together.

Not part of the Tone It Up team yet?  Check out their website or find them on YouTube!

Tips for getting ready for 7 Day Slim Down:
*Get all your groceries you will need for the week the day before you start the slim down.
*Get your measurments: waist, thighs, arms
*Write down your starting weight - first thing on day 1 before you eat or drink anything
*Print out the 7 Day Slim Down from the TIU Diet Plan (I like to cross out each meal and workout as I complete them and write down what I made for that meal and what I did for that workout)
*Take a "Before" picture
*I like to cook chicken ahead of time for my salads for the week and keep it refrigerated - saves time!
*Find someone on Twitter or FB from the TIU Team to do this with you!  :)

DAY 1 (June 24, 2011)
(to get the full 7 DAY SLIM DOWN menu check out toneitup.com and join!)
Booty Call: 2.5 miles with the jogger stroller - Gorgeous sunshine this morning!
Had a super yummy egg white scramble with spinach, diced tomatoes and salsa for breakfast.
COFFEE with almond milk, Stevia & cinnamon (MUST HAVE CAFFIENE!)
For lunch I had a oh-so-fabulous spinach salad with lots of yummy veggies.
Afternoon workout: One Day Fat Blast TIU DVD and Bikini Strap workout (challenge #2 on the Bikini Challenge Series)
Dinner was so good...grilled a chicken breast with some Garlic & Herb Mrs. Dash with a side of steamed Kale
WATER: I drank 88oz of water today...usually I average about 100oz - this keeps me so full so that I don't feel the need to snack!!
I felt really good today!  I never felt hungry or deprived.  I had lots of energy to work out and pushed it really hard!  I kept in touch with others on the TIU team through Twitter and FB.
This morning I wrote down my weight and measurements so at the end of the 7 Day Slim Down I will let you know how those changed!
Bring on DAY 2!! :)

DAY 2!! (June 25, 2011)
Whew!  Made it through day 2!  This morning I had planned on going on a 3 mile run but had a change of plans last minute.  My hubby was going to the golf course to play in a tournement so my daughter and I went with and packed the stroller.  He dropped us off and we headed home which was a 6 mile walk/jog.  That was my BOOTY CALL! :)
Day 2 is my favorite because I get to have a protein pancake!  I always feel like I am cheating because it just tastes WAY TO GOOD to be healthy!  I used chocolate protein powder today to switch it up a bit and added extra blueberries and topped it with sliced strawberries.  YUMMY! :)
Lunch: Big kale salad with tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers and raspberry vinegarette.

Late afternoon snack: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Larabar with 20oz water *Afternoon workout didn't happen....but since it took me 1.5 hrs to get home from the golf course this morning I wasn't too worried about it!
*So far I have not felt hungry at all during the first two days of the Slim Down.  Sticking to the foods that are listed along with all the water that I drink, I never feel the need to eat more.  I am usually stuffed after each meal and snack.
I weighed myself first thing this morning and was down 1 lb from my Day 1 weigh in.  Now that is a GREAT way to start off your day! :)  I'm ready for Day 3 tomorrow!  GOODNIGHT! :)

**Bored with drinking all that water?**
I like to buy a few limes and a package of strawberries - cut them all up and freeze in zip lock baggies so I have them on hand.  Grab a slice or two of lime and a few strawberries and throw them in your water jug.  I like the containers with a lid and built in straw so I can take it with me on the go.  Other fruits I like in my water: blueberries, pineapple, lemons...you can try watermelon or cucumbers too!  Want it to be a little sweeter?  Add a little Stevia - an all natural zero calorie sweetener.

Day 3 (June 26, 2011)
*It's Sunday and the weekend has come and gone...and I made it though day 3!  Woke up this morning and walked both of my dogs for my booty call workout.  Made a fantastic protein pancake topped with fresh strawberries and enjoyed some yummy coffee with almond milk, stevia and cinnamon - blended with ice.
*I skipped meal 2 today, just didn't have time.  Lunch - mixed greens salad with grilled chicken and a Granny Smith apple.  I have had grilled chicken for three days straight...tomorrow I will be having salmon!  :)
*We were out of town visiting my Grandpa in the hospital so I brought a ThinkThin bar along for meal 4 and two jugs of water with strawberries and limes.  Good thing it's only an hour car ride after drinking all that water! ;)
*Dinner - Grilled chicken breast seasoned with Mrs. Dash table blend and fresh lime juice; sauteed kale, spinach, green peppers and mushrooms seasoned with Mrs. Dash garlic & herb.  I drank 30oz. water with dinner tonight and I was so stuffed afterwards.

*I ended up working out after dinner instead of before: I did the Beach Bum workout and the Lean Legs Pyramid.
*Ended the day with a cup of tangerine orange herbal tea.  Mollie is in bed now and I will follow soon!
**Water** I drank a little over 100oz. today, tomorrow I will try cucumber water instead of fruit, time to switch it up! :)  BRING ON DAY 4!!!!

Day 4 (June 27, 2011)
Over the half-way point now!  Only 3 more days to go and I'm feeling FANTASTIC!  Got up this morning and went 2.5 miles with the jogger stroller, Mollie loves being outside, she's a great workout companion! :)
*Today my goal was to do 10 different ab excercises...as I write this I have done 6:
(bicycle crunches - 20 x 3 sets, crunches on ball - 40, vertical leg crunch 20 x 2 sets, reverse crunch 25 x 2 sets, plank on elbows 60 sec hold 2x, tummy tuck with kick back - 25 each leg) Still want to do before bed: lean abs pyramid and TIU best ab circuit.
*Breakfast: Egg white omelet with spinach, green peppers mushrooms and sliced tomatoes on the side

*My "splurge" today was eating an entire grapefruit instead of just half!  Haha, such a rebel! ;)
*Today's lunch salad had kale, tomatoes, green peppers, 2 oz smoked salmon and 3 strawberries-sliced
*Dinner: turkey burger (no bun) and cucumbers with a little vinegarette
After dinner I did 5 miles on the bike, arm & leg work out with weights and some of the ab exercises listed above.
*Water* 124oz today
I still feel good after day 4, I haven't had any times where I feel like I am starving.  I make sure to space out my meals so that I am eating ever couple of hours.  Tomorrow the diet starts to get more restrictive so we will see how it goes!  Looking forward to starting day 5!

Day 5 (June 28, 2011)
Today was the first day I have missed my morning workout. I did get 45 minutes of cardio in before dinner though.  Here's my workout path and partner (not sure what the funny face is all about :)

Breakfast: Good ol' egg white scramble with spinach, tomatoes & mushrooms Today (as I did yesterday) I ate the entire grapefruit for my snack (only suppose to have half).  I guess there could be worse ways of cheating.  I can't just have half! It's impossible, it's just SO GOOD!
Today's salad: Spinach, kale, crumbled lean turkey burger, green peppers, cucumbers, red peppers and tomatoes.

Dinner: Grilled chicken with green beans and cucumbers (drizzled with a little all natural raspberry vinegarette)

It's the end of day 5 and it's time to wind down with some hot herbal tea, haven't decided which flavor yet: Honey Vanilla Chamomile or Tangerine Orange (both caffeine free of course).  Feeling guilty for not getting my full body workout in today, might do it still before I go to bed.  Just one of "those" days!!

I did have an exciting start to the day: down 2 lbs so far since I started the 7 day slim down!  I went shopping this afternoon for some new pants because all my dress pants are too big, it was fun trying on a size smaller and they weren't tight!  I can't believe it's day 6 tomorrow!!!  GOODNIGHT! <3

DAY 6 (June 29, 2011)
4:20 a.m. - My dog, Stoli, wanted outside super early this morning so I decided since I was up I might as well get in a workout instead of going back to bed knowing that I had to get up at 5:00 anyway.  I got on the bike for 5 miles and then did an arm workout with dumbells.  I stepped on the scale this morning and I am down 3.4 lbs!
**NEW OUTFIT!!** I went shopping and bought a new pair of dress pants and they are a size smaller than I was wearing before...so fun to try on smaller clothes!

*Breakfast: I was suppose to have an egg white scramble but since I had to eat breakfast on the road I made a protein pancake and cut it into bite size pieces and put it in a zip lock baggie.  (Eating scrambed eggs and driving might now work so well, LOL.) asparagus and cod
*I brought 2 24oz water bottles and 1 32 oz jug of  iced cranberry pomegranate green tea I had made the day before to drink throughout the day.
*I had lunch with my Mom at Subway today.  I ordered a spinach salad with grilled chicken and lots of veggies and instead of dressing I had vinegar. (They have fat free dressings but they are high in sodium so I like to skip those).
*I forgot to pack strawberries for my afternoon snack so I had a ThinkThin bar instead.
*Dinner was so yummy: I had grilled cod and asparagus (pictured below).  Check out my blog entry to see how I prepare my Asparagus & Cod !
Wow, day 6 is done already!!  I'm getting nervous for day 7 because it is the most strict day of the entire 7 day slim down but I am going into it with DETERMINATION!  I just keep thinking how good I will feel after I get through it and I know the number on the scale will make me happy too! :)

DAY 7!!!! (June 30, 2011)
Yah, I have made it throud day 7 of the 7 Day Slim Down!  Wow, it feels so good to say that and know that I did my absolute best.  This was my second time completing the slim down and this time I worked even harder to stick to the diet and I did longer workouts too.  To be honest this was the toughest day but knowing I could see the finish line in sight it was motivation enough to stick with it.  I LOST 4 POUNDS in 7 days and my stomach is flatter.  My only problem is NONE of my pants fit!  I had to buy a couple pair of jeans and capris, bummer!  LOL!
Day 7 workout: 45 min walk with the jogger stroller
My favorite meal was M2: protein shake (I did add a 1/2 banana to help fill me up a little more) This shake really hit the spot and I felt like I was having an indulgent treat!  SO YUMMY! :)  I really liked my afternoon snack too, strawberries & blackberries with a little sprinkle of Stevia, very refreshing.
I drank 80 oz of water and 30 oz iced green tea.

I have been getting compliments from people lately and it makes me feel so good.  It has been worth all the hard work and makes me want to keep going!  I haven't EVER felt this good!  I told my husband that I am really suprised that I don't crave sweets anymore.  I used to be a candy/sweet junkie, now I crave FRUIT!  I love it!!

Thank you Katrina & Karena at Tone It Up...you are amazing and changing the way people live!!
