Intelligender Results

IntelliGender is a gender prediction test that I have seen so many expectant mom's talk about on YouTube.  I thought it would be fun to check it out just for fun.  I don't know if I believe in it or not.  I think it's done more for the fun of entertaining ourselves during pregnancy and seeing if it ends up being right or not.  I have my ultrasound coming up on Monday so I will get to see if this fabulous IntelliGender is really accurate.  I purchased this off Amazon.com but I believe they can be found at Walgreen's and other stores like that.  The pictures below are pretty self explanatory...

UPDATE!!!
We had our ultrasound and the IntelliGender was CORRECT!  We are having a baby boy!  I have butterflies every time I think about it!  Mollie is going to be a big sister. :)

Pregnant Girl Diet: Meal & Snack Ideas Part II

It feels so good to be craving all these healthy foods again!  I feel like I am back on track.  That first trimester really threw me for a loop.  I will be 22 weeks pregant this Thursday and I am so excited because we will have our ultrasound soon!  We will hopefully be finding out if Baby B is a girl or boy on April 2nd!

Baby Bump 21 weeks 5 days.

I thought I would share some healthy meals and snacks that I have made in the past week or so.  This is my second meal/snack post.  Like I said last time I love to see what other people are making because sometimes you just need some help deciding what to make or need some inspiration.

Hydration is key!  Start your day with at least 8 ounces.

My favorite way to flavor water is to throw in some cut up strawberries and lemons (limes are great too!).  Aim for half of your body weight in ounces every day.

Breakfast: Most important meal of the day, fuel up! :)

French Toast: made with whole wheat raisin bread, egg whites, almond milk, cinnamon, vanilla & almond extract.  Served with a few strawberries on the side which Mollie ended up stealing. :)

Strawberry Lime Protein Pancakes with a side of sliced strawberries.

Tone It Up - Egg White Scramble with spinach, zucchini, mushrooms and green peppers.  Slice of whole wheat raisin toast with non-dairy butter spread.

Kashi whole grain waffle with 1 T natural peanut butter and green apple slices.  This would make a good mid-morning snack too!

Lunch:
Something not too heavy so you don't fall into an "after lunch coma"!
Salmon Wrap (2.5 oz salmon with mustard, diced green peppers, carrots, pickles or cucumbers, fresh spinach and avocado on a high fiber whole grain wrap.  This recipe was inspired by my favorite health and fitness blog, Peanut Butter Fingers.

naVeggie pasta with spinach chicken sausage, green beans, carrots, fresh mushrooms and 1/4 C spaghetti sauce.  Top with a little low fat mozzarella cheese.  I made this for Jason the other day to take to out to work. 

Homemade turkey burger (lean turkey, chopped spinach, egg whites & Mrs. Dash).  Serve on whole wheat bread with lettuce, pickles, provolone and organic ketchup.  Side of grapes not pictured.

Snacks, snacks, snacks! :)

Choc Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie

Fruit salad & Lemon Chobani 0% greek yogurt

Snacks to go: Chobani and 1/4 C granola, water with strawberries & limes and a pear.

Grapes, sliced apple and cheddar cheese (pregnancy craving big time!).

Green Julius (heathly verson of orange julis)

Plum & water...that's simple right!?

Dinner: 
Alwasy a challenge to get dinner ready in our house. I have to plan ahead, I hate deciding last minute what to make.   


Grilled chicken and roasted veggies.

Homemade pizza on whole grain crust with spinach, green peppers, mushrooms, canadian bacon and low fat mozzarella cheese.

Turkey Loaf made with lean ground turkey, egg whites, chopped spinach, pepper, Mrs. Dash, garlic and dry mustard.  Topped with 2 T BBQ sauce.

Green Julius (Healthified Orange Julius)

In the the midst of all the fun that comes along with St. Patrick's Day and being an Irish girl myself I thought it very fitting to make something green this weekend.  Besides eating lots of spinach, green peppers and avocado this weekend I decided to make orange julius, an old favorite, with a healthier twist.

The recipe that my Mom used when I was growing up included orange juice concentrate, lots of sugar and regular milk.  I have subsituted these things with healthier ingredients.  The result was pretty darn good, recipe may need a little tweeking but overall my craving was satisfied.  I love the fact that this is full of nutrients from the spinach and orange like vitamin A and C, antioxidants, fiber and calcium just to name a few. 


Green Julius
1 Orange (peel and pull apart slices)
2/3 C Unsweetened Vanillla Almond Milk
1 tsp Stevia (all natural sweetener)
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
Handful of fresh spinach
1 C Ice

Blend (about 60-90 seconds) until well blended and you can no longer see any pieces of spinach.
*Next time I want to try adding a 1/2 frozen banana to make it creamier.

Mollie helped me slurp half of this down so I can say it's toddler approved! :)

Pregnancy: 20 Weeks

Today officially marks the halfway point of my pregnancy!  Where did the last 5 months go?  It really feels like it's only been about a month since I found out I was expecting.  Life has been so super busy with a toddler that the days just slip away.  At this point I am feeling great, eating well and working out when I can.  I am super pumped up about the weather getting warmer and the days getting longer.  That means I can start getting outside more for walks with the dogs and with the jogger stroller.  Being couped up in a house all Winter starts to take a toll.  Fresh air and sunshine really puts a pep in my step!

Currently my favorite snack: diced green apples, strawberries & mandarin oranges.

I'm still able to sleep on my stomach as long as I have one knee up to tilt a little to one side to take pressure off my belly.  It won't be long though before the big body pillow comes out and I have to start sleeping on my side.  I sleep pretty good minus the 3 bathroom breaks each night.

Boy -  Rory (final decision, if it's a boy this is his name!)
Girl - Leighton, Mila, Ella (I'm still working on this list but these are my top 3 but not sure I am sold on them yet.)

It's so strange to me that when we were pregnant the first time I literally had a list of 50 names that I had to go through with Jason.  This time not so much.  It should make the decision so much easier.  We didn't decide on Mollie's name until the second night in the hospital. 

Hopefully in two weeks I will have a gender update!!

Strawberry Lime Protein Waffle

This morning I was craving the Lemon Tarte protein pancake from the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan but I was out of lemons.  I did have a lime though!  I started looking through all the wonderful pancake recipes from the latest edition of the TIU plan and decided to mix and match a few recipes to come up with one that would be good with lime juice in it!  That's when the Strawberry Lime pancake was born.  I will be making this again tomorrow morning, yes, it was that good. 

Strawberry Lime Protein Waffle
1/4 C Egg Whites
1 T Ground Flax Seed
1 T Strawberry Jam
1 scoop Vanilla Whey Protein Powder
1/2 Lime - squeezed
3 T Cottage Cheese (mash on plate with fork first) or you can use 3 T Plain Greek Yogurt 0%
1 tsp Stevia (all natural sweetener)
2 Strawberries sliced (set aside to put on waffle before eating)

Preheat your waffle iron.  Mix all ingredients (except sliced strawberries) in a small bowl.  When waffle iron is ready spray with Pam non-stick spray, pour in your batter and close the lid.  That's it! So simple, now go enjoy that yummy waffle topped with strawberries and a little 100% pure maple syrup if you like. 

If you don't have a waffle maker, this can be made just like a pancake on a skillet.

Pregnant Girl Diet

I have had quite a few of my fellow Tone It Up teammates ask me if I still stick to the Tone It Up Nutrition Plan now that I am pregnant.  The answer is YES!  I am not as strict as I was when I wasn't pregnant though.  For example I sometimes have carbs at dinner like whole wheat pasta or whole wheat buns for a sandwich.  I decided to document a day of meals to show you an idea of what I eat in a day.  I think it's super important to eat nutritious foods so that the baby can grow and have the best healthy start at life as possible.  By the way I will be 5 months pregnant this Thursday!! 

This morning I started out with the TIU Egg White Scramle, I didn't have spinach or tomatoes so I just used what I had on hand.  I sprayed a small pan with Pam EVOO spray and cooked chopped asparagus, onions and green peppers.  When they were done I added 1/3 C of egg whites and seasoned with Mrs. Dash original blend.  I ate my eggs with a side of fresh strawberries.


By mid-morning I was ready for a little snack to hold me over until lunch so I whipped up a little protein smoothie which I posted the recipe in a separate blog post earlier today.  It was absolutely the best one I had made in awhile and it hit the spot!  It had banana, strawberries, orange juice and vanilla whey protein powder along with a couple other ingredients. 

Jason asked if I could bring him lunch at work today and he wanted a sandwhich.  I thought that sounded good and since I was already getting out the fixings to make one, why not make two?  So we had a simple turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with a wedge of tomato basil Laughing Cow cheese (I use this instead of mayo, it's only 35 calories per wedge), green peppers, pickles, lettuce and a few thin slices of cheddar cheese. 

Afternoon snack: Black cherry Chobani greek yogurt with 1/4 C granola.  I shared this with my daughter, Mollie, who is home with me all week since daycare is closed. 

Dinner time!  Tonight I made my favorite Healthy BBQ's made with ground turkey and my secret ingredient...grated carrots.  I guess it's not really a secret is it!?  You can find my recipe here.  Served up with a side of corn. 


My snack tonight will be cut up Watermelon that I have been snacking on like a crazy lady.  I have had a huge craving for it and it's just so dang good, not to mention guilt free!
